The best thing about working at the Newspaper House, say Liz Cronin and Ian Blythe, is the ability to make a positive impact.
They see their roles – as general manager and editor respectively – as giving a voice to the community.
“The paper has been around for so many years, it plays a crucial role in connecting the community,” says Liz. “Although I’m relatively new to this region, the town I grew up in had 15 people. I know rural and the challenges and opportunity it can bring.”
Ian, who is a Wandong local, agrees. “I’ve been on papers a long time, about 30 years’” he says.
“The best thing about my work is being close to the readers. You don’t get that kind of connection in the city.”
Newspaper House is an independently-owned newspaper publishing company based in Kilmore that publishes three community newspapers each week; North Central Review, Whittlesea Review and The Free Press.
